Miley Cyrus kicks off Bangerz tour in Canada

Miley Cyrus set out to shock as she launched her Bangerz tour in Canada on Friday night (14Feb14) complete with butt-baring costumes, graphic images of sex toys, and her signature saucy dance moves.

The former child star launched her North American shows at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver and wowed the crowd with a concert that included her huge hits Wrecking Ball and We Can't Stop, covers of Dolly Parton's Jolene and Outkast's Hey Ya, and past singles Can't Be Tamed and Party In The U.S.A.

However, it was Cyrus' costumes and stage sets which garnered the most attention - she kicked off the gig by emerging from the center of a giant picture of her own face, launching herself down a pink slide shaped like her tongue as she performed her Britney Spears collaboration SMS (Bangerz).

The pop star later changed into a skimpy green leotard covered in sparkling marijuana leaves, which left her buttocks on full display, to writhe on top of a rotating gold SUV.

Another saucy costume included a red and gold bodysuit with a sparkly heart plastered across her behind, while the big screens showed controversial cartoon images of drug paraphernalia and sex toys.

Cyrus also danced with a big foam finger, similar to the one she used onstage with Robin Thicke during their headline-grabbing set at the MTV Video Music Awards in August (13), and rodeoed on a giant, floating hotdog.

Before the show, Cyrus confessed her opening night nerves to fans in a post on her Twitter.com page, writing, "I don't know if it's Valentines Day or Bangerz Tour but I'm most definitely having a panic attack."

Cyrus' North American tour concludes in New York in April (14) before heading to Europe.
