Miley Cyrus fans want Party in the U.S.A. adopted as America's national anthem
Fans of Miley Cyrus have launched a campaign online in a bid to replace The Star-Spangled Banner as America's national anthem with the pop star's 2009 hit Party In The U.s.a.
The ambitious plan, which was thought up by one devotee from Redford, Michigan, has been outlined in a petition posted on the White House website's We The People page, where citizens are encouraged to post proposals for the government's consideration.
In signing the petition, supporters plead with President Barack
Obama: "Obama please make Miley Cyrus' Party in the USA our
national anthem. It is what is best for this country."
A total of 100,000 signatures are needed by 1 August (13) to have
the proposal brought to officials' attention, but as WENN went to
press, the petition had garnered just over 550.
