Miley Cyrus paid tribute to her godmother Dolly Parton by singing her classic hit Jolene for a star-studded crowd at Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy Awards bash on Saturday night (25Jan14).

The Wrecking Ball singer was one of the A-list acts who graced the stage at the event at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles ahead of Sunday's (26Jan14) prizegiving.

The outspoken star poked fun at the mature crowd, saying, "I hope y'all feel better than y'all look. Maybe this song is better for this crowd," before bursting into a rendition of Parton's 1973 heartache anthem.

Other performers included Robin Thicke, who sang his smash hit Blurred Lines with Pharrell Williams and rapper T.I., while John Fogerty took to the stage with Jennifer Hudson and members of the Foo Fighters.

The crowd included Rihanna, Neil Diamond, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, and Stevie Wonder, who were all spotted dancing during the four-hour show.

Davis ended the night with a tribute to his most famous charge, Whitney Houston, who was found dead in her hotel suite bathroom at the Beverly Hilton just hours before the 2012 party was set to start.

After playing videos of Houston's most memorable performances, Davis said, "We all know that Whitney was the greatest contemporary singer in the world. I don't want the world to forget that, and I don't want anyone in this room to forget that."
