Actor Michael Trevino has become the second castmember to quit The Vampire Diaries in as many days following co-star Nina Dobrev's shock announcement on Monday (06Apr15).
The series' leading lady confirmed she will be leaving the hit show at the end of the current sixth season, and now producers have revealed Trevino, who plays werewolf hybrid Tyler Lockwood, will not be returning for another season either.
In a statement issued to People.com, producer Julie Plec writes, "Michael has been a beloved member of the Vampire Diaries family since day one.
"Even though he's also going to be out in the world exploring new opportunities, we look forward to finding creative ways to make sure he and his character Tyler Lockwood always remain a part of the show."
Dobrev and Trevino both shared photos of their Easter weekend (04-05Apr15) farewell party at Lake Lanier in Georgia on Instagram this week (begs06Apr15).
They are not the only stars to leave the cast this year (15) - Dobrev's onscreen brother, Steve R. McQueen, exited the drama in February (15).
