Michael Jackson was the most popular celebrity on the internet in 2009.

The King of Pop's comeback concerts, announced in March (09), followed by his tragic death in June (09) made him the most searched for star across the web.

Jackson dethroned pop princess Britney Spears, who has led the annual Yahoo! poll for the last four years, with her personal struggles and highly-publicised breakdown consistently putting her at the top of the internet search engine's most wanted list.

Vampire movie franchise Twilight claimed second place, ahead of World Wrestling Entertainment and sexy star Megan Fo x.

Former number one Spears rounded out the top five.

The top 10 also saw entries for late stars Farrah Fawcett and Patrick Swayze, who both lost battles with cancer this year (09).
