Michael Fassbender shows off impressive break dance skills

Michael Fassbender has shown off his best break dance moves during a TV appearance.

The Oscar-nominated actor was on Britain's The Graham Norton Show on Friday (05May17), alongside fellow guests Diane Keaton, Jessica Chastain and Kevin Bacon.

During the interview, Fassbender told host Graham how he'd jokingly pitched an alternative ending to his new movie, Alien: Covenant, to a rather unimpressed director Ridley Scott.

The star, who reprises his role as robot David in the sci-fi thriller sequel to 2012's Prometheus, explained that he wished for the android to appear as the film's credits rolled.

"I wanted to have David dancing on the disco deck of the ship. At the end and the credits are rolling, I thought it might be kind of funny to do like a Napoleon Dynamite-style exit for the character," he laughed, referring to the famed dance scene featuring actor Jon Heder from the 2004 movie. "But Ridley didn't go for it! I still don't understand why."

Fassbender was then quizzed by Graham on his break dance moves and his childhood interest in dance as a child growing up in Ireland in the 1980s.

"I've done the robot back in 1987 when I was going through the break dance phase," he joked, to which Chastain cheekily asked, "What is break dance? Can you show me?"

The 40-year-old agreed to perform his signature swan dive move to Gary Numan's hit Cars, warning the audience, "I might rip something!"

After showing the dance move, the actor took a bow as the audience went wild with applause.

"That was amazing," Keaton gushed, as Chastain cheered and laughed.

Alien: Covenant hits cinemas from 12 May (17).
