Meek Mill's cousin shot and killed in Philadelphia

Rapper Meek Mill is mourning the death of his cousin, who was shot and killed on Tuesday night (13Sep16).

Angelo Colon, 21, was one of five people killed in a wave of violence in the rap star's native Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Law enforcement insiders tell TMZ Angelo suffered a gunshot wound to his head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meek Mill shared his grief and frustration in an Instagram post, beneath a photo of his slain cousin.

He wrote: "Watching my family die to these Philly streets! Probation is the only thing that got me tied to come coming (sic) back here so frequent!!

"My mission is to save my family from these streets and change the mindframes of all my lil cousins growing up in it!!!"

Nicki Minaj's boyfriend is currently serving a six-year extended probation sentence, which began in March (16), after he violated his initial punishment order by allegedly changing his court-approved travel schedule without consulting his probation officer.

Meek was on probation relating to drug and gun charges from 2008.
