Matt Damon drops out of directorial debut

Written by . Published: January 07 2012

Matt Damon has pulled out of his directorial debut due to "scheduling conflicts".

The Departed star teamed up with John Krasinski to co-write the project and he originally planned on stepping behind the camera to direct the untitled drama, however he has now dropped out after realising he won't have enough time for the job.

Matt Damon will still have a star turn in the film but Good Will Hunting director Gus Van Sant has since signed as his replacement.

Gus Van Sant hopes to begin shooting the movie this spring (12), according to The Hollywood Reporter.
