Mark Ronson adds Oops songwriters to Uptown Funk! credits list

Written by . Published: May 01 2015

Producer and hitmaker Mark Ronson has added the brains behind The Gap Band's Oops Up Side Your Head to the list of song credits on his Uptown Funk! chart-topper after accepting his hit features similarities to the 1979 dancefloor filler.

Co-writers Ronnie Wilson, Charles Wilson and Robert Wilson, as well as record producers Lonnie Simmons and Rudolph Taylor have joined Ronson, singer Bruno Mars and producers Jeff Bhasker and Philip Lawrence, as well as rapper Nicholas Williams (aka Trinidad James) and Devon Gallaspy on the credits list.

The news comes a month after Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams were ordered to pay over $7 million to Marvin Gaye's family after a jury determined their 2013 hit Blurred Lines copied elements of the soul man's 1977 single Got To Give It Up.

And earlier this year (15), Sam Smith agreed to pay Tom Petty songwriting royalties for his single Stay With Me after accepting his hit featured similarities to Petty's I Won't Back Down.
