Mariah Carey avoided a second awards show embarrassment in as many days on Wednesday (06Jan10) - she got her husband Nick Cannon to help her free her heel from her designer gown at the People's Choice Awards.

A night after drunkenly accepting an acting honour at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, the Hero singer had to be helped out of a wardrobe fix by husband Nick Cannon as she struggled to the stage to accept her Best R&B Artist prize.

She stopped and smiled at the star-studded audience as Cannon tugged at the hem of her shimmering white dress to free her.

Mariah Carey gave Ni ck Cannon a thank-you kiss as she took hold of the award and then thanked him again in her acceptance speech - for helping her "with this dress, because it's a drama".
