Mariah Carey 'refused permission to film in Harrods'

Mariah Carey reportedly had her request to film on location denied by iconic London department store Harrods.

The singer apparently wanted to film her reality TV show Mariah's World in the luxury store, but her request was declined after managers felt the superstar's presence would be too disruptive to customers, a new report claims.

According to a source, Mariah, 46, who is currently on her European tour, wanted to use Harrods' make-up department as the setting to treat a member of her team to a makeover.

"If you’re thinking of high-end London shops, you think of Harrods, so of course that’s where Mariah wanted to shoot," the insider told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper.

"But store managers felt there would have been a lot of commotion, which would be really disruptive to the shop's staff and customers."

It is alleged that the star, who is known for her diva demands, was also refused permission to "film outside of opening hours".

"Mariah's entourage would have been in the dozens and there's no way usual trading could have gone on, but they also refused to open the store especially for her... they had to look for alternative locations for the shoot," the source continued.

The E! television show is currently shadowing the R&B singer as she completes her European tour in the run-up to her marriage to billionaire businessman James Packer.

She was recently granted access to film at other popular London destinations including the world famous toy store Hamley's, where she was seen treating four-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe, and The Tower of London.

The outspoken star recently ruled out her fiance from appearing in the show, telling The New York Times that he was too much of a "legit businessman" and it wouldn't be "his thing" to be "traipsing all over Europe". Despite being absent from the show James, who got engaged to the star in January (16) after eight months of dating, did attend his wife-to-be's concert at London O2 Arena last Wednesday (23Mar16).

The all-access reality show is executive produced by Mariah and will reveal "her unparalleled celebrity lifestyle filled with true glamour, maximum luxury and ultimate stardom".

Mariah next performs in Copenhagen, Denmark, on Tuesday night (29Mar16).
