Mariah Carey 'doing well' after hospitalization

Mariah Carey is "doing well" after falling ill with a severe case of flu.

The Hero singer was taken to a New York City hospital on Wednesday (02Dec15) to receive treatment, according to TMZ.com.

Mariah's representative tells People magazine the singer was the "ultimate professional" during an appearance at an event in New York City on Tuesday (01Dec15), revealing she "had fallen ill earlier in the day, but participated in the event... as much as she could."

Although her spokesperson did not confirm whether the pop diva had been admitted to hospital, the representative did insist Mariah is on the mend and planning to return to work this weekend (05-06Dec15).

"She had been feeling under the weather with the flu over the past few days and was fighting it to the best of her abilities," the rep adds. "She is doing well now and will be performing as scheduled this weekend. She thanks her lambs for the continued support and well wishes."

The mother-of-two has a big performance lined up on Saturday (05Dec15) at rapper pal Busta Rhymes' Hot for the Holidays concert in New Jersey.
