MACY GRAY STUNNED BY I TRY SUCCESS

Macy Gray was convinced her biggest hit I Try would be a commercial flop - she was certain the song was "not catchy enough" to top the charts.
The star shot to international fame following the single's release in 1999, and the track won her a Grammy Award in 2001 for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
Macy Gray admits she was stunned by the song's popularity - and she can't believe her fans still know all the lyrics a decade later.
She tells Grazia magazine, "When I wrote my biggest hit, I Try, I didn't think it was a big deal. Too wordy, not catchy enough. So I was shocked when it became a success. And 10 years later people still know the words - that's probably been the biggest surprise of my life. On YouTube people play it on ukuleles."
