One Direction's Louis Tomlinson is to finally fulfil his dream of playing for British soccer team Doncaster Rovers on Wednesday (26Feb14), five months after he was forced to drop out due to injury.

The Story of My Life singer accepted a non-contract position on the team's reserve squad last year (13) and was due to make his first appearance for the team in a reserves match in September (13).

However, he was injured in a charity match in Scotland and was unable to play.

Tomlinson will now take to the field for the club he has supported since childhood when the reserves take on rivals Rotherham United on Wednesday.

Doncaster Rovers spokesman Shaun Lockwood tells the Press Association, "We've built a relationship with Louis over the last two years and last summer we announced he had signed for us and would play in a development game... When his schedule allows he comes to watch us, because he supports the team, and he's been here a few times for training sessions ahead of the game."
