Louis Tomlinson reaches out to theme park crash victim
One Direction star Louis Tomlinson has reached out to a young fan who was seriously injured in a horrific theme park accident last week (ends07May15) after she missed the band's gig in London due to her continued hospitalisation.
Leah Washington, 17, was among a group of thrill-seekers caught up in a devastating accident at the Alton Towers resort in Britain on 2 June (15) when two carriages on a rollercoaster named The Smiler collided.
Washington and her boyfriend both suffered severe injuries, and she
subsequently had her left leg amputated below the knee. The
youngster remains in hospital and was unable to attend a gig by her
favourite band, One Direction, in London on Saturday (06Jun15),
prompting her friends to launch a social media campaign urging the
pop stars to visit her while she recovers.
One Direction member Tomlinson has now reached out to Washington
and sent her a message via Twitter.com, writing, "Thinking about
you Leah & hoping you are home in South Yorkshire soon Xx."
A message previously posted online by a friend of the youngster
reads, "Been to visit a close friend Leah Washington who was
involved in the Smiler crash at Alton Towers which resulted in her
having her leg amputated. She is a huge fan of One Direction and
had tickets to go see them at Capital's Summertime Ball however was
obviously unable to attend. As any Directioner would understand
this was a big deal to her and she was so upset... (Her) hospital
room is full of posters of them! I know this is a long shot and
they must get lots of requests but it would really make Leah's day
and aid her recovery if they could visit her or contact her in any
way! Thank you for all your support."
