Los Lobos and Valeria Lynch among special Latin Grammy winners

Los Lobos and Valeria Lynch are among the Special Award winners on the eve of the Latin Grammys on Wednesday (19Nov14).


The Latin Recording Academy held its annual special awards presentation at the MGM Grand's Hollywood Theater in Las Vegas to honor iconic performers and executives for their years of contribution to Latin music.


Mexican American band Los Lobos and Argentine diva Lynch were among the seven recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award, a prize given to performers who have made "creative contributions of outstanding artistic significance to the field of recording."


Also feted with the coveted prize were Cuban singer/songwriter Willy Chirino, Portuguese singer Carlos Do Carmo, Mexican rocker Cesar Costa, Spain's Duo Dinamico, and Brazilian provocateur Ney Matogrosso.


The star-studded Latin Grammys will be held at the MGM Grand's Garden Arena on Thursday (20Nov14).
