Lorde's new album Melodrama has been leaked online hours before its official release on Friday (16Jun17).

The Royals singer's second record, the follow-up to 2013's Pure Heroine, is scheduled to be available to stream, download and buy from midnight on Friday. But the full 11-track album appeared on multiple streaming and torrent download sites on Thursday afternoon, according to The New Zealand Herald.

Representatives from Lorde's label Universal Music have declined to comment on the leak and Lorde has not yet posted anything on social media about it, but her fans have shared messages urging people to wait for the official release.

"Ok listeners of the #melodrama leak - do our bby (baby) girl @lorde right and buy this album when it drops. It's too good to not have our support!" one user wrote.

The 20-year-old recently held listening parties for Melodrama in Auckland, in her native New Zealand, and New York, which she advertised at short notice.

On Tuesday, she tweeted, "NYC... 9pm tonight i wanna do something with u (you) - super intimate capacity - 18+ - first 45 to email [email protected]."

She later shared pictures of fans at the party and added in the caption, "Played 50 special people the album tonight in nyc. so much loooove (sic)."

"Cannot describe to you how it felt to be playing an album for you and to hear your stories again. two days people #JUNE16," she continued.

Fans at the party seemed to be won over by what they heard as they shared positive reviews on Twitter, as one user called it "Heartbreaking but beautiful body of work", while another wrote, "The album is glorious & she is an angel".
