Lorde axes Australian festival gig to focus on States

Pop sensation Lorde has scrapped an Australian festival appearance so she can concentrate on cracking the States.

The Royals star, who won two Grammy Awards last month (Jan14), was set to play at the Gear Up 2014 music event in Adelaide on 28 February (14), but she has now axed her performance due to her stock rising.

Gear Up spokesperson Anne Marie Parsons says, "It's been an amazing rise for Lorde and we are extremely happy for her success. Unfortunately, this success has meant that she has had to pull out of her commitment to appear at Gear Up 2014.

"Of course we are extremely disappointed Lorde will not perform at Gear Up 2014 - she's a fantastic artist and it would have been amazing to have an artist of that calibre, so early in their career at our festival."

The New Zealander has also reportedly shelved plans for a tour Down Under this year (14), according to Australian media reports.

Her Aussie booking agent Daniel Sant adds, "Unfortunately due to the fact that Lorde is becoming one of the biggest and buzziest (sic) artists in the world right now, she is under a lot of pressure from everywhere in the world and it ultimately leads to timelines and goalposts shifting constantly and very quickly."
