Lizzy Caplan is close to signing on to play Channing Tatum's leading lady in upcoming X-Men spin-off Gambit, according to reports.
The much-anticipated movie recently landed a release date, three years after Channing was first linked to the project back in 2014.
The film has suffered several setbacks with both The Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt and his replacement, filmmaker Doug Liman, pulling out due to scheduling conflicts, but now 20th Century Fox bosses have confirmed the project will be released on 14 February, 2019, and Gore Verbinski will helm it.
Gambit appeared onscreen in the 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine, portrayed by actor Taylor Kitsch.
It is not yet known who Caplan will play in the movie, if she signs on.
