Lindsay Lohan released after nightclub arrest
Lindsay Lohan has been released from police custody in New York following her arrest on suspicion of assaulting a woman at a nightclub.
The Mean Girls star was detained by cops in the early hours of Thursday morning (29Nov12) after she allegedly punched a female party-goer in the face at Manhattan hotspot Club Avenue, following a night out at Justin Bieber's Madison Square Garden gig.
She reportedly refused medical treatment and was taken to a local
police station, where she was booked on a third-degree misdemeanour
assault charge.
A video of Lohan's arrest has now emerged online in which she is
seen being lead away in handcuffs by a police officer while
tearfully declaring, "Are you kidding? Oh my God..."
New York Police Sergeant John Buthorn has revealed the unnamed
victim, a 28-year-old woman from Florida, sustained "minor, minor
injuries" and a spokesman for the New York Police Department adds,
"(Lohan was) involved in some type of dispute (inside the
nightclub). She struck another female patron in the face and was
arrested a short time later outside the club."
Lohan, 26, was released around 7.30am local time after being handed
a desk appearance ticket, which orders her to attend a court
hearing to face the charge at a future date.
The incident leaves the actress facing the prospect of a stint in
jail as she remain on probation from a shoplifting charge from last
year (11). It is the latest in a series of legal woes for Lohan,
following a previous arrest in New York in September (12) when a
pedestrian claimed she hit him with her car, and a dramatic
incident at a Manhattan hotel later that month (Sep12) when she
accused a man of assaulting her.
The hit-and-run case against Lohan was dropped due to insufficient
evidence, and charges against her alleged hotel attacker were also
dismissed.
