Lil Wayne is a no-show for Kimmel's live talk show

Rapper Lil Wayne left TV presenter Jimmy Kimmel hanging in the balance on Thursday (01Mar12) after standing up the comedian on his live, late night talk show.

The tardy Lollipop star was slated to appear as a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! but he failed to arrive - forcing quick-thinking Kimmel to improvise and pull a member of the audience up onstage to fill the time slot.

Remaining cool, calm and collected, he said, "Normally we would bring out a guest at this juncture in the program but our guest is not here. Lil Wayne was supposed to be our guest at this point, but Lil Wayne is unavailable right now... I hope he hasn't been incarcerated again! So, how about you in the purple right there, would you mind being Lil Wayne for me?"

The surprised fan, later identified as Carl, agreed and made a quick wardrobe change into the rapper's trademark baseball cap and dreadlocks to serve as his replacement.

Wrapping up the awkward comical segment after several minutes, Kimmel made light of the no-show, saying, "Well, I thank you Carl for getting me out of this terrible jam."

No reason was given for the star's absence, although Lil Wayne had performed a free concert at the Hollywood & Highland Center earlier in the evening as part of the Hollywood for Caesars Escape to Total Rewards music extravaganza.
