Liam Payne has driven his fans wild by sharing a four-second teaser clip of what appears to be his debut solo music video.

The One Direction heartthrob is the last member of the boyband, who are currently on hiatus, to release a solo offering. He sent social media into meltdown on Wednesday night (10May17) when he shared a brief video in which he could be seen strutting around shirtless.

Liam's chiselled abs are on display in the footage, in which he wears a pair of Calvin Klein boxers underneath black pants, and it's accompanied by a currently unidentified tune. The song features what sounds like a bass guitar and finger snaps, before Liam chimes in with a "Yeah yeah yeah yeah".

Liam also opted to leave the video caption free, simply adding a pair of staring eyes - possibly hinting that his fans need to "watch this space".

Following the publication of the video on Instagram, fans were sent into a frenzy, with the footage having been viewed a staggering 1.1 million times at press time. Followers took to the site in their thousands to comment on the video, with remarks including: "WHAT A TEASE!"

Another commented, "So happy i could die", while a third wrote, "GIVE ME A BREAK, 1D it's too much I can't handle that."

It remains to be seen which track Liam is teasing with the clip, but it has been speculated it may be the tune he penned with multi-platinum artist Ed Sheeran.

“Liam and Ed have been friends for years, ever since the Shape of You singer first wrote for One Direction on their debut album," a source told British newspaper The Sun earlier this week. “The collaboration actually came about very quickly earlier this year. Liam was in Los Angeles and was told that Ed was beginning to write a song with Liam in mind."

The track marks the first time Liam and Ed have worked together since the singer wrote the song 18 for One Direction's 2014 album Four.
