LEIGHTON MEESTER TRAPPED IN ELEVATOR

Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester almost cancelled a performance in New York City's Times Square on Tuesday (17Nov09) when she found herself stuck in an elevator.

The actress/singer was due to open a new American Eagle clothing shop by singing for fans, but she had a late start after the elevator taking her to the stage halted mid-flight.

A source tells the New York Post, "The door shut, but the elevator didn't go anywhere for a few minutes, which felt like forever."

Fortunately, Meester began moving again before engineers were called - and she rushed to perform her four tracks to a delight ed crowd.
