Lana Del Rey was a budding social worker before her pop career took off - thanks to her childhood emotional problems.
The Video Games singer reveals she enjoyed working with people who were "f**ked up in the head" when she was living in New York City.
She explains, "(I would help them) transition into being normal, functional members of society."
And she tells Complex magazine that her background helped her excel as a young counsellor: "It think it was because the way my head was when I was younger. I was dealing with a lot of emotional turmoil, so I understood what it's like to be at war with yourself."
Lana Del Rey admits she could empathise with some of the people she tried to help: "You get to a point where you run out of everything. You've gone through everyone. You have no money... The last thing you can do is start over."
