Lamar Odom's DUI arraignment postponed
Kim Kardashian's embattled brother-in-law Lamar Odom has had his arraignment for a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) postponed until next month (Oct13).
The basketball player, who is married to the reality TV star's sister Khloe, was due to answer the misdemeanour count in Van Nuys Courthouse in California on Friday (27Sep13), but his lawyer, Richard Hutton, attended on his behalf and requested a continuance.
The judge rescheduled Odom's arraignment for 10 October (13).
The DUI charge relates to the sportsman's arrest on 30 August (13),
when he was allegedly caught driving too slowly on a Los Angeles
highway. He was unable to complete a field sobriety test and then
refused chemical tests to determine his reported level of
intoxication in custody. His driver's license was subsequently
suspended as under California law, DUI suspects who refuse such
tests are forced to give up their driving privileges for a
year.
Friday's court date, which lasted just five minutes, fell on Odom
and Khloe Kardashian's fourth wedding anniversary. It is unclear if
the couple will be spending the day together following reports its
marriage is on the rocks amid rumors of Odom's substance abuse
issues.
He allegedly attempted to tackle his drug problems by checking into
a rehab facility shortly after his August arrest, but he left the
medical center after just one day.
It's the latest drama in Odom's personal life - he is also facing a
lawsuit from a paparazzo amid claims of assault, conversion and
trespass of property relating to a confrontation this summer
(13).
