Lady Gaga vows to cover up during Dubai visit

Lady Gaga has promised to shun her usual revealing outfits on and off stage in Dubai out of respect for the local culture.

The Poker Face hitmaker is scheduled to perform in the conservative United Arab Emirates on Wednesday (10Sep14) and had promised earlier this year (14) that the racy elements of her show would be censored.

When asked at a press conference about baring her body during her visit to Dubai, she replied, "No, I will not be... I respect the culture here, and this show will be appropriate for all the fans here in Dubai.

"I know there are some artists that are very strict about their policies of adhering to their art and not compromising, but I actually think it's important to respect other cultures and not force them to adhere to the beliefs of your own country. In fact, I think it's a better way to connect with the people and to connect a message."

The pop star wore a floor length gown that covered her arms when she arrived at Dubai International Airport on Monday (08Sep14). She posted a snap of the moment on Instagram.com, adding, "I can't tell you how much it means to be welcome to the Middle East (sic). I hope during this trip I can show my true self, with a message of acceptance, tolerance, (and) a respect for individuals of all cultures."
