Lady Gaga to receive charity hero award

Lady Gaga is to be honoured with the Trevor Project's Hero Award for her efforts championing gay rights.

The singer, a vocal campaigner for equal rights, will be recognised for encouraging youth empowerment through her Born This Way Foundation at the charity's annual Trevor Live event.

Trevor Project CEO David McFarland says, "Our young people are at the centre of a health crisis, and vocal leaders like Lady Gaga... have stepped up to help change our culture.

"Our honourees are working with the Trevor Project to make a better today and a brighter tomorrow for youth. We are proud to honor Lady Gaga with the Trevor Hero Award for (her) work to help young people express their true selves with pride."

Singers Mary J. Blige, Miley Cyrus, Fergie and Glee actors Chris Colfer and Darren Criss are also set to attend the Trevor Project's gala on 4 December (11) at the Hollywood Palladium.
