Lady Gaga's fans to complete missions for access to SXSW show

Lady Gaga will set challenges for her fans so they can win tickets to her debut performance at the South By Southwest Festival (SXSW) in Texas.

The Poker Face singer was denied a performing permit for her original venue choice because of public safety concerns, so she has moved the gig and will now be headlining a show at Stubb's BBQ restaurant in Austin, Texas on 13 March (14).

The venue only holds 2,000 people and fans cannot buy tickets to the event, which will be held in partnership with snack brand Doritos. Instead, they have to complete challenges set by the star, who says in a promotional video, "Only people who prove their boldness are able to get in".

She announced the first challenge on Thursday (06Mar14) saying, "We're calling it Bold Bravery. I want you to share a picture or a video that expresses your individuality through a bold action. What bold thing have you done that makes you stand out?"

One winner will be picked by the singer in each challenge. Others who attend the festival can enter a draw for a ticket by performing their own bold challenge. Winners will be drawn at random.

Gaga adds of the show, "The ARTPOP performance at SXSW will be a completely one-off set and experience. I've been dreaming of this moment. It's all about the music and the connection with the crowd, and I want the audience in Austin to see me live in a way I never have before. I love theatrics, but I started out singing at a piano with a Bud Light in a bikini. Performing at Stubb's is a real blast from my past."
