Lady Gaga joins Vanity Fair's New Establishment List

Written by . Published: September 02 2011

Lady Gaga has been named one of Vanity Fair magazine's top 50 most innovative visionaries, becoming the highest ranked woman at number nine on the annual New Establishment List.

Facebook.com founder Mark Zuckerberg tops the list for the second year in a row, while the co-founders of Google, Sergey Brin and Larry Page, are placed second in the countdown, which notes people who are "an innovative new breed of buccaneering visionaries, engineering prodigies, and entrepreneurs".

But the stars of the New Establishment List aren't all technical geeks - Gaga scores her second consecutive appearance just inside the top 10.

She is the highest-placed female, ahead of Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling at 16 - and the 25-year-old singer is also the youngest person to make the cut.

Other celebrities featured among the top leaders of our time include director Judd Apatow (20), rap superstar Jay-Z (21), actor/producer Mark Wahlberg (29), Ashton Kutcher (43) and Justin Timberlake (50).
