Kristen Wiig upset about all-girl Ghostbusters backlash

Bridesmaids star Kristen Wiig is "bummed out" by the backlash she and her Ghostbusters castmates have received as fans get ready for an all-woman revamp.

The actress/comedienne admits she was upset when fans refused the accept the Ghosbusters were going to be women in Paul Feig's 2016 movie.

"The fact there was so much controversy because we were women was surprising to me," she told the Los Angeles Times. "Some people said some really not nice things about the fact that there were women. It didn't make me mad, it just really bummed me out. We're really honoring those movies."

The new movie, which is set for release in July (16), features Wiig, Melissa McCarthy and Kate McKinnon, while Chris Hemsworth will play the Ghostbusters' receptionist, and original stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts will all appear in cameo roles.
