Kirsten Dunst: 'People who don't get depressed are weird'

Written by . Published: September 26 2011

Kirsten Dunst is convinced almost everyone suffers depression at some point in their lives and anyone who doesn't must be "weird".

The Spider-Man star battled the condition in 2008 and checked herself into the Cirque Lodge treatment centre in Utah to receive professional help.

Dunst plays a severely depressed woman in her latest movie Melancholia, and the actress admits she can't understand people who haven't been through similar troubles.

She tells Canada's Flare magazine, "People are embarrassed to talk about it. I would never put anyone down (who) was in that kind of space.

"I think most human beings go through some sort of depression in their life - and if they don't, I think that's weird."
