Khloe Kardashian scores victory in fireworks lawsuit
Reality TV star Khloe Kardashian has won a legal battle over a birthday fireworks display.
Kim Kardashian's sister found herself in trouble after throwing a yacht party for her basketball star boyfriend James Harden's 26th birthday in August (15), when she arranged for a 15-minute midnight fireworks show to light up the skies over Marina Del Rey in California.
The surprise sparked complaints from local residents, prompting
local police to investigate. The authorities then recommended the
District Attorney charge Khloe with disturbing the peace.
The count was dismissed weeks later, but in October (15), local
resident James Ferguson filed a claim against Khloe, alleging the
explosions created "a disturbance that harmed our family and
pet".
He demanded $7,500 in damages, but he failed to show up to a
hearing in a small claims court this week (begs04Jan16), so the
judge dismissed the case, according to TMZ.com.
Khloe was not in attendance for the court date.
The news will come as a relief for the Keeping Up With the
Kardashians star, as the lawsuit was filed shortly after her
estranged husband, Lamar Odom, was hospitalized following a
suspected drug overdose at a Nevada brothel.
He remains under doctors' care in Los Angeles, where Khloe has
continued to visit him and lend her support over the holidays. The
recovering sportsman's teenage son, Lamar Odom, Jr., recently
shared the first picture of his dad online since his
hospitalization, showing fans he was making a good recovery.
The image featured half of the former Los Angeles Lakers player's
face close to the camera, while his son and 17-year-old daughter
Destiny playfully posed behind him.
"Christmas with my pops," Lamar, Jr. captioned the snap. "Here's to
2016. Blessed."
