Keyshia Cole drops out of California concert

R&B star Keyshia Cole dropped out of a holiday concert in Oakland, California on Monday (17Dec12) after learning she would not be the headlining the show.

The singer claims she signed up to perform at radio show KMEL 106's Holiday House of Soul concert believing she would be closing the gig, but was left furious when she heard she would instead be opening for soul sensation The Weeknd.

She subsequently pulled out of the Christmas concert and in an angry Twitter.com rant on Monday, she raged, "EVERY F**KING YEAR I do something major for my city! @KMEL has the nerve to tell me at the last minute they want me to open for the weeknd.

"No disrespect to the weeknd. Why the hell would @106KMEL ask me to open for him in My home town! Where I give back! Where IM FROM! NO".

However, radio bosses insist Cole was never told she would be playing during the finale - and they promptly called on another R&B singer, Jeremih, to replace her when she cancelled the appearance.

A KMEL representative tells TMZ.com, "We were surprised to see Keyshia Cole's Tweets the night of our show... as she was never scheduled to be the show's final act."
