Kesha: 'Taylor Swift is always there for me'

Kesha calls Taylor Swift when she needs a friend's supportive words to help her through her personal battles.

The 30-year-old musician has been involved in a legal battle with her former producer Dr. Luke real name Lukasz Gottwald, since 2014. She alleges he sexually abused and bullied her early in her career, while he is suing her for defamation.

Taylor contributed $250,000 to the cost of her legal fight, and Kesha says she often calls the Bad Blood singer when she needs a friend to lean on.

"(Taylor) is a sweetheart," Kesha tells Rolling Stone magazine. "Very, very sweet, very, very genuine, extremely generous, picks up the phone every time I call her. My mom doesn't even always pick up the phone!"

The Tik Tok singer also offered her support to Taylor during her recent sexual groping trial. In August (17) Denver, Colorado radio DJ David Mueller was found to have sexually assaulted the star during a meet-and-greet backstage at a concert.

During proceedings, Kesha wrote on Twitter, "@taylorswift13 i support you always, and especially right now and admire your strength and fearlessness. truth is always the answer."

Taylor made her musical comeback last month (Sep17) with Look What You Made Me Do, a single in which she appeared to mock ex-lovers and stars she had feuded with.

Kesha says despite her chats on the phone with Taylor, she doesn't keep up to date on any of the controversies surrounding her pal.

"I'm not really up on my pop culture," she explains. Should I know something about it? I live in my record player."

Kesha and Dr. Luke's legal battle is ongoing, with Lady Gaga recently dragged into proceedings after she was asked to hand over text messages relating to the case.

The singer released Rainbow, her first album in five years in August (17) on Dr. Luke's former label Kemosabe Records.

Last year (16) a judge denied her request to be released from her contract with Kemosabe due to the abuse allegations.
