Keri Russell shares newborn son's name

Keri Russell and her partner Matthew Rhys have named their baby son Sam.

The Golden Globe-winning actress appeared on morning program The Today Show on Friday (01Jul16) to promote her new movie Free State of Jones, and during their chat confirmed to host Matt Lauer that she gave birth to a son in mid-May (16).

"We had a boy... Sam. He's so good, big and fat and nice," she shared, adding that Matthew, 41, was embracing new parenthood "so well".

Keri and Matthew have been dating since they met on the set of U.S. TV show The Americans in 2013, in which they play Soviet spies living in America, and have managed to keep their romance out of the public eye for the most part. While Sam is Matthew's first child, Felicity star Keri is already mother to son River, nine, and four-year-old daughter Willa, her children with ex-husband Shane Deary. Although she managed to deflect direct questions about the status of their romance during an interview with the Los Angeles Times in 2014, the 40-year-old brunette did reveal the things she loves most about working with her Welsh beau.

"What I enjoy is (Rhys) makes it so easy," she gushed to the newspaper. "You feel you're in safe hands, and it's enjoyable to work like that because you're sort of like, let him do all the hard stuff."

As well as happy news in her personal life, Keri hit a career milestone this week when it was announced on Tuesday (28Jun16) that she would be among the celebrities to be honored with stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year (17), alongside Amy Adams, Dwayne Johnson and Mark Ruffalo.
