Kelly Rowland confirms split from record label

R&B singer Kelly Rowland has confirmed reports she is no longer a Universal Republic recording artist.

The Motivation hitmaker's fourth studio album, Talk a Good Game, hit stores last year (13), but when the release of her third single, Gone, was shelved by label bosses, rumors surfaced that Rowland had requested a release from her contract with Universal Republic.

In a new interview with HuffPost Live, Rowland confirms her departure from the label, but insists she left on good terms.

She reveals, "I just needed something new and I've earned the right to make my own choices and make my own decisions. No hard feelings, I just needed a fresh, new start."

The former Destiny's Child singer also reveals she is back in the studio working on a new album, despite the fact she is currently an unsigned artist.

Rowland says, "There are different offers on the table. I'm just in the studio on my own and just having a really good time just being creatively free."
