Kelly Clarkson's daughter loves Wonder Woman

Kelly Clarkson's young daughter loves Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot.

The 35-year-old singer was honored at Variety's Power of Women L.A. event on Friday (13Oct17), and during her acceptance speech she confessed she had a crush on the Israeli star, who plays the iconic superhero.

Seeing the actress in the audience, she stopped her speech to talk about how nice it is to have a "bold female figure" as a role model for young girls like her own three-year-old daughter River.

"She got it all,” she said about Gadot. “I love this movie... I probably shouldn’t show it to her (River). I’m being judged. All the grown-up stuff goes over her head."

The new Voice coach, who was feted for her work with educational organization XQ Institute, said the Wonder Woman movie has a good message for girls about standing up for themselves.

"The story of Belle and the Beast. It’s a little scary. She’s in a dungeon, trapped and they fell in love. And Aurora (in Sleeping Beauty), she just slept it out. And those are her favorite ones," Clarkson said of her daughter. "But now she loves Wonder Woman."

And seeing River act out fight scenes from the movie, released earlier this year (17), makes the award-winning singer emotional.

"You’re a little proud cause you’re like, ‘Oh, you’re cute in the Belle dress,’ but you’re more proud when she’s like (wields imaginary Wonder Woman sword)," Clarkson explained.

She later told People.com that she's keen to keep it "very real" with her children, and has conversations about confidence and self-esteem with River and son Remington, 18 months.

“I said, ‘You tell mommy if somebody does anything inappropriate. You stand up for yourself. Even from a young age, I think you should instil that people, your children, should always stand up for themselves or speak out when something is wrong,” she said.
