Katy Perry texts Buzz Aldrin ahead of space-themed MTV Video Music Awards

Katy Perry has reportedly been texting Buzz Aldrin ahead of her gig hosting the space-themed Mtv Video Music Awards.


The Firework singer announced the news that she would host this year's VMAs earlier this week (27Jul17) and it seems like the pop star is doing everything she can to prepare for the space themed event.

"I've been training with MTV in zero gravity, eating astronaut ice cream" she told the Daily Star newspaper.

She also revealed that she was on a group text with legendary astronaut Buzz Aldrin, 87, and American astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson.

As part of the Apollo 11 mission with Neil Armstrong, Buzz was one of the first men to walk on the moon in 1969. Neil has been the director at Hayden Planetarium at the Rose Center for Earth and Space in New York City since 1996.

The 32-year-old singer took to Twitter on Thursday to let her fans know that she was going to be this year's host by posting up a space-themed video, in which she is dressed in a space suit, floating through the universe:

"Introducing your MOONWOMAN," She tweeted excitedly. "Brace for impact! August 27th on # MTV # VMAs."

Katy also posted a picture of herself in a sexy silver spacesuit on Instragram, holding an MTV flag with a neon pole.

The 32-year-old singer is up for five gongs at the event and will also perform at the prize-giving on 27 August.

Rapper Kendrick Lamar is the top nominee at the 2017 MTV VMAs after scoring eight nominations.

His promo for Humble. will compete for the highest honor of Video of the Year against Bruno Mars' 24K Magic, Alessia Cara's Scars To Your Beautiful, Wild Thoughts by DJ Khaled, Rihanna, and Bryson Tiller, and The Weeknd's Reminder.
