Katy Perry says goodbye to tragic make-up artist

Katy Perry has written an emotional tribute to make-up artist Jake Bailey, who was found dead on Friday (23Oct15).

Bailey, who also helped stars like Selena Gomez, Emmy Rossum and Katie Holmes get red carpet and stage ready, reportedly took his own life.

His body was discovered by an assistant at his Los Angeles home. Officials suspect he succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning.

Bailey, who also worked as a photographer, took care of Perry's look for the 2015 Super Bowl Halftime Show in February (15), and the singer took to Instagram over the weekend (24-25Oct15) to offer up a heartfelt tribute to her late friend.

"My sweet, sensitive soul," she began the note, which was accompanied by photos of the singer with Bailey. "What a wonderful journey and friendship we had together. What beautiful art we created together. We conquered the worlds (sic) biggest stages, together.

"I know you felt life so intensely and it created this incredible artistic passion in you that came out in everything you touched, from the amazing images you took to the ways you painted your muses, highlighting the beauty in everyone. You had the most otherworldly eye to detail..."

Katy also raved about Bailey's eyelash work, insisting "even Bambi couldn't rival" his "precise lash".

"You essentially created my 'look' ever since we met on the music video for Hot and Cold," she added. "We always confided in each other, rallied each other at our lows and pushed each other to be our best. We never got comfortable and I know that was why we did the best work together."

The pop star also revealed Bailey was her meditation partner, explaining her "favorite moments" were spent with him "during breaks on different jobs".

"(We'd) tune all the noise out, forget about hollywood (sic) and the chaos that surrounds it, and look for a slice of peace, 20 minutes at a time," she wrote.

"I know sometimes it was hard to find consistent happiness here on this earth, I understand you in that way. I want you to know now finally and forevermore that I appreciate you and all the lessons we traded each other in this life," the pop star concluded. "I love you. No more work, no more searching, you are finally at peace. Every time I sit in that chair we shared, just know, no one holds a brush to you, friend. Be free now."

Perry put the heartbreak of her friend's death behind her to support presidential candidate Hillary Clinton at a rally in Iowa on Saturday (24Oct15).

The pop star joined Clinton's husband Bill, in Des Moines for the Iowa Jefferson-Jackson Democratic dinner, where she performed America the Beautiful and her hits Firework, Wide Awake and Roar, while wearing an American flag cape.
