Kathryn Joosten unhappy with Desperate Housewives writers

Veteran actress Kathryn Joosten is happy TV bosses have axed Desperate Housewives, because they've failed to write decent storylines for her "for the last two years".

Executive producers told the cast on set earlier this month (Aug11) that the hit drama's upcoming eighth season will be its last.

Actresses Felicity Huffman and Brenda Strong have spoken of their sadness at the end of the longrunning drama - but Kathryn Joosten is feeling happy about the cancellation.

The 71 year old, who has played Karen McCluskey since the show debuted in 2004, admits she's been unhappy with her storylines in recent years as writers weren't devising age-appropriate plots for her.

She tells E! News, "I'm glad to be done with it, because it's said everything there is to say and done it.

"There hasn't been that much for me to do anyhow because they don't know how to write for people my age... There haven't been any stories for me for the last two years."
