Kate Winslet refused to discuss wedding plans amid phone hacking fears
British actress Kate Winslet refused to discuss her wedding to Ned Rocknroll over the phone amid fears the news would leak.
Winslet married the businessman, nephew of U.K. tycoon Sir Richard Branson, in a small, private ceremony in New York in 2012 and the news did not emerge until after the event.
The Titanic star has now revealed she went to great lengths to keep
the wedding under wraps, and she even refused to discuss details
over the phone.
She tells Britian's Glamour magazine, "When Ned and I got married -
the lengths we went to: 'Don't tell me over the phone!' The sad
thing is, anyone who was in the public eye, you just expected your
phone to be hacked. Still now, if I'm having a phone conversation,
I'll say, 'Don't tell me over the phone'."
Britain's phone hacking scandal hit headlines in 2011 after it
emerged a private investigator working for the U.K.'s now defunct
News of the World tabloid had illegally accessed stars' voicemail
messages.
