Kate Bosworth professes admiration for Tory Burch in 'love letters'

Kate Bosworth is so in awe of fashion designer Tory Burch that she writes her love letters.

The Still Alice actress turned to her close pal to dress her for the Met Gala on Monday night (01May17) and together they came up with a black gown which boasted 3D embellishments.

But it wasn't just the outfit that was a priority for Kate, as she simply loves spending as much time as possible with the American fashion designer.

"I have so much admiration for Tory and everything she's done," the star gushed to WWD. "The focus that she has and discipline, and also the warmth and groundedness - it's everything that I related to and want to learn from.

"I send her love letters. I'm, like, 'Don't think I'm stalking you!'"

The 34-year-old also explained that she had created a mood board to send to Tory and her team when they were coming up with an idea for the gown. But Kate asserts that the whole creative process was "very organic", and she was very happy to sport the garment at the bash, which honored Japanese designer and Comme Des Garcons founder Rei Kawakubo.

"I thought that the idea of black for this was appropriate because (Kawakubo) uses so much black and it felt very Comme des Garcons," said Kate.

The Superman Returns star's confident appearance at the Met Gala comes shortly after she revealed that she struggled with depression as a young actress, and wishes she had sought the help of a mentor sooner.

"I did have someone who helped me find the tools to navigate a very strange industry and create healthy habits in my life, but no one that advised me artistically," Kate told Australian newspaper The Sydney Morning Herald's Sunday Life. "I always regret not having a career mentor, so I always encourage young people, especially if they're shy or insecure, to reach out to those who've walked the coals, so to speak."
