Kanye West receives apology from Goodwill bosses over newsletter controversy

Written by . Published: December 11 2015

Kanye West has received a formal apology from Goodwill charity bosses in Illinois after they poked fun at his moody facial expressions in an employee newsletter.

Officials at the Goodwill division in the rapper's home state used images of the Stronger star's emotion-less face as a way to show managers how not to act with team members during the holiday season.

The article was titled, "Do you suffer from Resting Kanye Face?", and explained to readers, "Those who do, may not be seen by others as 'approachable'. Employees want leaders they feel comfortable approaching and communicating with."

Photos of the Kanye-inspired piece were obtained by editors at TMZ.com this week (begs07Dec15), and after their ill-advised festive message went viral, the Goodwill chiefs responsible pulled the newsletter from stores and issued an apology to the new dad on Thursday (10Dec15).

"We'd like to apologize to Kanye West, his fans and the community for the use of his image to illustrate an internal training message," a representative writes in a statement. "It was unacceptable and Goodwill takes full responsibility for this action and meant no disrespect to Kanye."

The hip-hop superstar has yet to comment on the controversy, but Kanye has more important things on his mind after his wife Kim Kardashian gave birth to the couple's second child, son Saint, last weekend (05Dec15).

Like most new moms, Kim was woken up by her hungry baby boy early on Thursday and she took to Twitter.com to reveal she had been inspired during her sleepless night to make a big donation to charity, with the help of her husband.

"I'm up breastfeeding & watching this show Dish Nation," she wrote. "I heard the cutest story of a girl who is trying to find 1000 pairs of shoes to donate to this charity Soles For Souls! They helped her during Hurricane Katrina. I think I know the designer of Shoe of the Year Award!"

"Kanye and I would love to donate those 1000 shoes to Soles For Souls," she continued. "I've been looking online to find this little girl so we can let her know the shoes are on their way... but can't seem to find her... So whoever you are... these shoes are for you! We will contact Soles For Souls! You reached your goal, so proud of you!!!"

Kanye was recently named the recipient of the Shoe of the Year award.
