Justin Timberlake has been crowned the iTunes Artist of the Year, thanks to his number one album, The 20/20 Experience.

The Suit & Tie hitmaker made a big comeback after releasing his first studio album in seven years in March (13), and now he's proven fans are still eager for more from the multi-talented artist.

Bosses at Apple Inc. released its annual hits list based on data from their music downloading program, and they awarded the singer with the top prize of Artist of the Year.

Timberlake also nabbed the best-selling album for The 20/20 Experience and the 10th best-selling single for Mirrors.

Incidentally, the data was drawn from sales before 16 December (13), which means Beyonce's record-breaking album, which was released on 13 December (13), only captured a few days of sales, despite selling 828,773 units worldwide in just 72 hours.

The deadline put her at number two, right behind Timberlake, who also collaborated with Beyonce on her surprise record.

Rappers Macklemore & Ryan Lewis were awarded Album of the Year and sixth best-selling album for The Heist, and earned the number one track for Thrift Shop.

Song of the Year went to 17-year-old Lorde for Royals, and rapper Kendrick Lamar closes out a successful 2013 with the Breakthrough Album prize for good kid, m.A.A.d. city.
