Justin Bieber treats fans to free iPhones

Justin Bieber surprised two fans in New York City on Saturday (01Feb14) by gifting them with iPhones during a shopping trip at Apple's flagship store.

Lalita Selochan and a friend had spent hours waiting in the cold outside the singer's Manhattan hotel in the hopes of catching a glimpse of their pop idol, but after failed attempts to contact Bieber via Twitter.com, they decided to step into the nearby store to warm up.

The superstar, who was in the area to celebrate the Super Bowl festivities, found the pair watching his new music video for Confident on an Apple device and decided to treat them to brand new cell phones.

Detailing her star encounter on Twitter.com, Selochan wrote, "We continued to watch the video, then I felt a tap on my shoulder and I heard 'I see you guys checking out the new video.' I turned around to see JUSTIN DREW BIEBER STANDING RIGHT BEFORE MY EYES...

"He told the guys that worked there 'I want a pink one for her, and a green for her and lemme (sic) get a yellow for me.' (Then) he handed us the iPhone 5C he bought for us.

"We exchanged high fives and I told him, 'No matter what stupid rumor comes up, I'll always be by your side. Always a Belieber (fan)!' He told us he loved us and went upstairs with his bodyguards... He's sweet and caring and funny."

She also shared a photo of herself posing with Bieber.

The Apple store surprise wasn't the only fan encounter the Baby hitmaker experienced during his Big Apple stay - he had to ask local police to back down on Monday (03Feb14) after they attempted to keep a throng of fans from mobbing him outside his hotel.

Bieber later took to his Twitter.com blog and wrote, "dear cops. my beliebers (fans) wont hurt me. all is ok (sic)."

News of the teenager's generosity emerges on the same day it was announced he will stand trial in March (14) for charges of DUI, resisting arrest without violence and driving without a valid license following an incident in Miami, Florida last month (Jan14). The singer has pleaded not guilty to the allegations.
