Justin Bieber: 'I'm not a bad person'
Justin Bieber is saddened by his newfound reputation as a troublesome teen after a series of headline-grabbing incidents, insisting he is nothing like the "bad person" he's made out to be.
The Baby hitmaker is at the centre of a battery investigation after an alleged altercation with a male neighbour outside his Calabasas, California mansion on Tuesday (26Mar13), hours after returning home from a tour stop in Poland.
The singer is accused of verbally threatening the local resident
and reportedly making contact with him, prompting the man to file a
police report.
However, Bieber is adamant his growing reputation as a bad boy is
undeserved because he never acts up just to cause trouble.
Speaking before the alleged altercation, the 19 year old said, "The
biggest misconception about me is that I'm a bad person. I get
upset about that. I have a big heart. I want to be a good role
model, but some people want me to fail... I mess up sometimes. It's
part of growing up... I'm young and I like to have fun. There's
nothing wrong with that."
Bieber also spoke out to blame a bout of influenza for causing his
stage collapse midway through a concert in London earlier this
month (Mar13).
The teen superstar needed medical attention after fainting
backstage during his 7 March (13) gig at the O2 Arena, where he was
given oxygen before returning to the spotlight to finish the show,
the third in a four-night residency. He was admitted to hospital
immediately after the event for a check-up and was discharged
shortly afterwards.
He struggled with breathing difficulties as he staged his final
London performance two days later (09Mar13), and he has now
revealed the health worries were all down to flu, but they had
nothing to do with a bizarre gas mask he was photographed wearing
while in the city.
He tells Us Weekly magazine, "I passed out from the flu. And the
gas mask is a joke with my friends. We like to mess around."
The European leg of Bieber's Believe world tour was dogged with
problems - in addition to the hospitalisation, he was embroiled in
a spat with a photographer, and he hit headlines again earlier on
Tuesday when he was photographed parading through an airport in
Poland semi-dressed as he prepared to board a flight back to the
States.
