Actress Julia Stiles is set to portray groundbreaking screenwriter Frances Marion in the upcoming biopic about late acting legend Mary Pickford.

Producers at Poverty Row Entertainment recently won the rights to Eileen Whitfield's biography Pickford: The Woman Who Made Hollywood, and now studio bosses have tapped Lily Rabe to play the Pollyanna star, while Stiles will be acting as Marion, her frequent collaborator and the first woman to win an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay in 1930 for The Big House.

In addition, Boardwalk Empire's Michael Pitt has been cast as Pickord's first husband Owen Moore and child star Ryan Simpkins as a younger version of the Canadian-born beauty.

The First will be directed by Jennifer DeLia and produced by Al Pacino's daughter, Julie.
