John Mayer had a very special reason to celebrate this Thanksgiving Day weekend - he marched to the top of the album charts with his Battle Studies. The singer/songwriter claimed his second number one on the Billboard 200 chart with 286,000 opening-week sales. He's also enjoying success around the world - Battle Studies has earned Mayer his highest debut in the Australian charts and a number one in Holland. Battle Studies is one of four new entries in the new top five - Norah Jones' The Fall debuts at three, Until The Whole World Hears by Casting Crowns rockets to four and rapper 50 Cent's Before I Self Destruct starts at five. Also new to the top 10 is 15-year-old Justin Bieber's My World at six. Dave Grohl's supergroup Them Crooked Vultures debut their first self-titled release at 12. And Italian opera star Andrea Bocelli leads the holiday albums with My Christmas, which scores a 185,000 sales week to stay at number two. Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle is expected to charge to the top of the charts next week (02Dec09) after breaking Amazon.com pre-order records. Chart experts predict her I Dreamed a Dream album could replace Eminem's Relapse as the year's top-selling debut.
