Jessie J faces a future of agonising arthritis after foot injury

British pop sensation Jessie J will suffer with agonising arthritis in her foot for the rest of her life after a nasty injury failed to fully heal.

The Price Tag star was preparing to go on tour with Katy Perry when she tumbled during rehearsals in June (11) and broke her left foot. She underwent surgery and had to wear an orthopaedic boot to protect the injury, which forced her pull out of the trek and cancel several high-profile shows.

She has finally had the cast removed and can perform properly on stage once again, but the star has revealed she is facing a future of agony as the break is struggling to heal, leaving her suffering from arthritis.

She tells Britain's Daily Mirror, "I can't explain how excited I am to have my leg out of the cast. Yes, finally, I can wear two shoes instead of one. But I will always suffer from arthritis in my ankle. It really hurts. It will be something I have to live with for ever. So I will never make that full recovery.

"I won't be able to wear heels again. But I'll have some bad-boy Sketchers (sneakers) blinged up for me. At least I'm alive, and I can sing. I can't wait to get back on stage."

And the singer reveals how even at the worst moments of pain she refused to numb herself with painkillers, because she feared becoming addicted to them.

She adds, "I've lost so much weight. My left leg has lost all its muscle. I don't like it. Things got so bad my mom had to move in with me. I fell out of the bath, I couldn't stand, cook, get up by myself. At first they gave me loads of painkillers at the hospital, but I didn't take them after that. I didn't want to become addicted. What sort of role model would I be if I became addicted?"
