Jennifer Lopez vows never to discuss divorce in public again

Written by . Published: January 31 2012

Jennifer Lopez is refusing to field anymore questions about her divorce from Marc Anthony because they want to keep the trouble in their personal lives private for the sake of their two children.

The singer/actress split from salsa star Anthony in July (11) and Lopez broke her silence about the breakdown of her third marriage to Vanity Fair magazine in August (11), claiming she "really worked hard" to save their relationship.

She said, "Sometimes we don't realise that we are compromising ourselves. To understand that a person is not good for you, or that that person is not treating you in the right way, or that he is not doing the right thing for himself - if I stay, then I am not doing the right thing for me. I love myself enough to walk away from that now."

Lopez has not spoken in detail about the split since, and she has warned reporters not to ask her to explain her Vanity Fair quotes - because it was the one and only time she was prepared to open up about her heartache.

During an interview on breakfast show Today on Monday (30Jan12), she said, "Everything I wanted to say about the divorce I said in that article. And Marc and I agreed that we're not gonna talk about it publicly again because it really is our personal lives. We have children and it's something that we just have to respect and keep sacred.

"It's not the easiest thing in the world but we handled it with a lot of grace, a lot of caring and a lot of love."

The estranged couple recently reunited to continue working on and promoting its new reality TV show Q'Viva - The Chosen, which Lopez and Anthony host and produce.

Lopez insists they remain on good terms when it comes to their working relationship, although she admits the pair "had its moments" on set.

She added, "Marc and I were friends before we got married. We were friends for years, and we always loved each other. And we always worked together, so it wasn't an unnatural thing for us to continue working together... It's really a passion project for us.

"Even though it has its difficult moments, it's still a great thing that we're doing, that we feel that we're doing. We have our moments, we're human, but, at the end of the day, there is real love there and there is a family there, and that comes first."
